I used to think consistency meant discipline.
Strict schedules. No excuses. Showing up even when I didn’t feel like it.
And for a while, it worked.
Until it didn’t.
Because forcing yourself through everything eventually turns into resistance. And resistance turns into avoidance. And suddenly, you’re not consistent anymore… you’re just tired.
So I changed the way I approached productivity.
I made it softer.
Not lazy. Not careless. Just… kinder.
Instead of asking, “How much can I get done today?”
I started asking, “What can I realistically carry today without overwhelming myself?”
Some days, that’s a lot.
Some days, it’s one small thing.
Both count.
I also stopped building systems that required me to be at 100% all the time.
Because I’m not.
No one is.
Now, I work in rhythms instead of rigid routines.
I let my energy guide my output instead of forcing output regardless of energy.
And weirdly, I get more done this way.
Not because I’m pushing harder.
But because I’m not constantly recovering from burnout.
Soft productivity isn’t about doing less.
It’s about doing things in a way that you can sustain.
And sustainability is what actually builds consistency.
